Built, tested and deployed.

iPlant's research and development is demonstrated through deployed systems. Each project below was delivered with partners and is operating in real conditions.

Projects

Built, tested and deployed.

Vertical Farming for Climate Resilience

UNDP Jordan and the Royal Scientific Society · Funded by Sida

Vertical Farming for Climate Resilience

Location
Jerash, Mafraq and the Jordan Valley

Challenge

Water scarcity and limited growing space make reliable local production difficult in several Jordanian communities.

iPlant solution

iPlant deployed smart vertical farming units with integrated controller technology under “Scaling up Water Innovation for Climate Security”.

Result

The project demonstrated consistent controlled crop production with reduced water demand across multiple Jordanian sites.

iGROW

NARC and i.GREENs

iGROW

Location
Amman and Aqaba

Challenge

Urban agriculture needs to make better use of water, energy and underused city spaces.

iPlant solution

iPlant contributed hydroponic systems and control technology to an integrated model combining growing, solar energy, greywater treatment and rainwater harvesting.

Result

The project demonstrated how multiple resource systems can work together in an urban sustainability model.

Jordan University — Deir Alla

CEA Research Room

Location
Deir Alla, Jordan

Challenge

Researchers need repeatable growing conditions for year-round trials and environmental studies.

iPlant solution

iPlant built a climate-controlled indoor farming environment with monitored lighting, irrigation and environmental conditions.

Result

The facility supports controlled plant trials and academic research throughout the year.

Urban Green Roof

Agricultural education centre

Urban Green Roof

Location
Amman, Jordan

Challenge

Rooftops across Amman sit unused while the city absorbs heat and imports most of its fresh produce.

iPlant solution

iPlant built a productive rooftop for leafy greens at an agricultural education centre, doubling as a teaching space.

Result

The roof produces food where it is eaten, reduces heat absorbed by the building, and demonstrates rooftop farming to students and visitors.

Validation

  • Deployed across Jordan

Real systems in community, research, hospitality and education settings

  • Partner-led projects

Work developed with national and international institutions

  • Field-tested control

Controllers, monitoring and automation designed for demanding environments

  • Built around each site

System design adapted to available space, climate, crops and resources
